Caught in Action.
The proboscis is another name for the tongue of a bee.It is like the human tongue, in that it is soft and can be extended. Relative to the size of the average honeybee, the proboscis is long, a result of evolution helping the bee to reach the center of a flower to collect nectar.

Winter Garden
The corner of the garden I planted late 2022 has really come into flower this year with daffodils, hellebores and home grown perennial erysium. The photinia has also grown a couple of feet covering the fence.

Fatsia
A new addition to the garden. Fatsia Japoinca : Spiders Web or Japanese Aralia. Japanese Aralia is prized for its glossy palmate foliage that brings a lush, tropical feel to planting schemes. Fatsia 'Spiders Web' is a particularly intriguing variety with speckled markings that spread inwards from the outermost edges. The overall effect is an unusual, frosted appearance. Clusters of globular white flowers in autumn are followed by black berries. Despite its exotic looks, this evergreen shrub is perfectly hardy. A superb choice for those challenging, shaded positions. Height and spread: 2m (78").
